Raja’s closing night speech for GAWDESS in P-Town | Icon Alert
Hey all,
For those of you who don’t follow my Instagram, you may not know that I just returned to the city from visiting my boyfriend’s family in Boston Massachusetts. And while there, I knocked a very important item off my bucketlist: I finally saw a drag queen perform in P-Town! And not just any drag queen...Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3, Raja!
If you’re wondering what P-Town is, it stands for Provincetown and is a lovely town in Massachusetts well known for its gay nightlife and fabulous summertime drag revues. Some incredibly famous drag artists such as Mrs. Richfield, Varla Jean Merman and Ms. Coco Peru perform there all summer, and John Waters even lives in the area. And as if it doesn’t already sound like heaven yet, these days past Ru Girls have even taken up residencies to add the their growing repertoire.
Raja started her own one-woman show, Gawdess this summer. Before taking the show to the Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York, she was kind enough to share her intentions and goals of the show and what it meant to her to perform in P-town. In true Toot It or Boot It fashion, Raja told it like it was and unabashedly herself. See what she had to say in the video below!
I hope you enjoy the footage in all of its grainy glory. And remember to give me a like on Facebook and subscribe to my YouTube channel to see more of your favorite queens in action! And click here to get tickets to her upcoming NYC shows!
