The World Is Wide Open For Kara Thomas
We’re back with a new guest tastemaker for some quick-fire questions and a mini-curation of some fab Chairish finds!
This week we are joined by interior designer Kara Thomas of Studio KT. Known for an eclectic mix of luxe with an edge — which is fully incorporated into her vibrant Los Angeles 1-bedroom — Kara crafts spaces spaces that pay homage to both her clients’ unique story and the history of the space itself. For those looking to brainstorm a renovation or redesign while social distancing, her firm currently offers a feature called Room in a Box, which makes collaborating remotely with Kara affordable and easy to navigate.
Read on to find out what she’s most looking forward to post-quarantine and which design icon’s aesthetic inspires her through multiple mediums.

What’s helping you get through quarantine?
A bottle of rosé, my puppy Harley, candles, and a good playlist on Spotify!
What’s the first thing you’re going to do after quarantine is over
Hug my mom and my grandma.
What is the coolest vintage piece in your house?
A brass cheetah dish that sits on my coffee table. It holds my sage and crystals. It’s my favorite piece because I found it in Paris while I was out shopping with my mom.
Who is your ultimate style icon?
I live for Kelly Wearstler. She’s not only an amazing interior designer, but her fashion speaks for itself. I love her bold style and her ability to mix colors and patterns. Queen!
What is the most exciting aspect of your firm’s Room in a Box feature?
The coolest feature would be the 2D renderings, which I create once we finalize all of the items. It allows the client to get a better visual of how the space comes together. The most exciting aspect is the ability for me to connect and work with clients from all over the world.
