Meet Our New Puppy: Giuseppe!
Steven and I are excited to announce that after years of wanting to get a dog together, that day has finally come. We are proud pet parents of an adorable Morkie (Maltese and Yorkie mix) named Giuseppe! Born the day we moved out of San Francisco, Giuseppe is just shy of 4 months old. And that coincidental birthday of his is just one of the many reasons why we believe it was destiny that brought him into our lives.
Join me as I share some of the basics about this little floof who has turned our world upside down in the best way possible.
Giuseppe may be our first dog together, but he certainly isn’t the first dog either of us have had in our lives. When I was a little girl, my family had a Poodle-Doxen-Terrier mix named Yuki, and we’ve had Malti-Poo named Pepper since I was 11. Steven’s family also has two dogs, a Poodle named Widget and a Bichon-Poodle mix named Watson.
We’ve always loved the wonderful dogs in our lives and have been praying for the right little guy or gal to come along and join our family. And so after moving into our new home, we finally felt that the time was right for us to start our search.
Being that Giuseppe is part Maltese (one of Pepper’s breeds,) we were quite familiar with a lot of his personality traits: Playful, sweet, brave, and curious - the latter to a fault! But we also are learning about the traits of a Yorkie, which are new to us. For instance, I’ve never seen such a small pup learn fetch or through toys as quickly as he and his razor-sharp teeth do. He’s also the feistiest pup I’ve ever lived with. It’ll be interesting to see which traits of his right now are from him being a young pup, and which he’ll carry with him all his life.
From Giuseppe’s Diary:
My Likes And Dislikes
LIKES:
Playing Fetch and Tug-Of-War with my favorite chew toys
Hanging out on the shelf of the coffee table while Mom and Dad watch movies
Sleeping on Dad’s shoes when he’s away
Digging holes in the backyard (sorry Dad)
Chewing on the corner of the sofa (sorry Mom)
DISLIKES:
When Mom and Dad aren’t both in the room with me
Going for walks around the neighborhood (Seriously, what’s the draw?)
Walking on pavement of any kind…If it ain’t grass, I’ll pass.
Being told I can’t destroy Mom’s Parachute bath mat
Mom keeping the light on in the bathroom for her nightly beauty routine. What gives? Dad and I don’t have one, and we look great!

The days leading up to Giuseppe’s arrival were spent watching puppy training and care videos on YouTube, calling our parents to help us make checklists, and stocking the house with everything from pee pads and snacks to carrying cases and puppy sweaters. And yet nothing could have prepared us for all of the little challenges this guy put us through that first week. (For a 4-lb pup, he really packs a punch!) Being that I love to talk lifestyle and product, I want to continue to share what I learn during my journey as a first-time dog mom. If you’re interested in finding out which brands we shopped for Giuseppe and what we think of them, be sure to follow me and/or him on Instagram!
We are so happy to share our home with this sweet little guy and can’t wait to make years of memories with him. We hope seeing his darling face in your feed will give you a taste of the happiness he’s brought us so far. Until we meet again!
