Embrace Your Dark Side with Astrologié Beauty's New Metallics
This autumn season, Astrologie Beauty is embracing its dark side, with a new three-piece collection that is the inverse of their Constellation Collection from this summer. The polishes are all vibrant metallics with a dash of holo glitter. And sophisticated enough to bring the galaxy nail into the 2020s.
The Collection
Dark Matter
While the formulas for each polish in this collection are all quite similar, the coloring and overall effect of each one is quite unique. So each polish gets its own superlative this time around. For Dark Matter, it’s the shade I consider the most versatile. This polish - which shares its namesake with the collection itself - is an outstanding black metallic with a gunmetal quality to it that makes it perfect to pair with gold and silver jewelry alike. So whether you’re warm-toned, cool-toned or a confusing neutral tone like me, this is definitely a go-to for a moody autumn look.
Blood Moon
While you wait for the next actual blood moon eclipse to happen later this year, might I suggest indulging in this red metallic polish? As for its superlative, Blood Moon gets the award for most unique shade. It’s not quite true red, not quite rose gold, and not quite pink. And much like an actual Blood Moon, its appearance is dependent on the time of day and shifting of light. It’s an incredibly flattering in-between shade that you would be hard-pressed to find a dupe of in your polish collection.
Midnight Sky
Finally, we have my Midnight Sun, which I have named my personal favorite from the collection. I love watching the shade of this polish change throughout the day - depending on the lighting - from navy to indigo to charcoal and silver. As vampy and jewel-toned as its namesake, Midnight Sky is definitely “the road I’m taking” this fall.
Application notes for collection: All of the polishes in this collection require only 2 coats each for full opacity. Like any metallic polish or glitter polish, I recommend waiting until the first coat is bone dry to apply the second. Upon drying, the first coat creates a textured surface that the next coat can grip onto evenly.
What are your thoughts on the Dark Matter collection? They’re the perfect mood-setters for the upcoming fall season with immense wearability for winter as well. They’d also make great stocking stuffers for Christmas, as there really is something for everyone and their shades and metallic shifts lend themselves to so many skin tones and nail shapes.
And if you haven’t yet seen my swatches of the summertime sister collection to Dark Matter, be sure to check out the Constellation Collection! It’s a whole other vibe entirely, but still out of this world. Until next time!
